I have been exploring the materials of photography for more than 25
years. In the scheme of
things this is a short time, but in these years there has not been a
waning from this versatile material.
Instead photography has continued to excite and give me direction. From
making the negative to
finding the many interpretations of that negative in the printing, I
have been able to tap into a universality. Using the figure in this
endeavor allows me to deal with the psychological ramifications of
nakedness,
and to explore the reciprocal properties of point and space. Whether the
work is on photographic paper,
sensitized rice paper, collage, water color paper or three dimensional,
the search is the same. Terner has had numerous exhibitions in the United States. His work has also been shown in Latvia, France, Mexico, Norway, and Russia. He has lectured throughout the United States on his technique of photo chemical painting he calls phototern. |
