Lori Taschler projects humor in today's contemporary living, where even the most basic interior elements -- a stove, a dresser -- dominate any human presence. And what ever humor presence she allows into her almost antiseptic, mundane and generic interiors is viewed as doll-like and catatonic. In a soft- on- the- eye and not unpleasant manner, Taschler projects a dark humor in her paintings, showing how every day routines are stressful. This she does by drawing dark, mannequin like human figures, surrounded by pastel colored basic interiors and enclosed canvases. |
